There is a power our noses have in defining the experiences of our lives. We subconsciously make our decisions on the people we interact with and the places we visit, through what we have smelt.
A perfume can arouse the inner hunger.. sometimes for love, sometimes for lust.
The mere remembrance of an to odor to a long untasted culinary dish can set our mouths to watering, or conjure up a vivid moment in time where every sensation is recalled and relived.
Inversely, a certain stench can physically debilitate us, mentally disarm us. Reduce us to a quivering mass of wretched, dry-heaving discomfort.
Yet much is misunderstood within this discipline due to the new age obsession with burning incense, and other vile odors that deliver mild narcotic effects to the receiver. Certainly it could be argued that these narcotic odors have a valid purpose when used by those of a malignant persuasion. Like the well known use of scent based weaponry by institutions of aggression (military, law enforcement, etc.), subtle narcotic odors have been employed for thousands of years for situations that require a subtle hand, and a blatant target.
The irony of the New Age is that these substances are used upon the self in the misguided belief they will bring a spiritual calm. Nothing more could be further from the truth. Aromancy must always, ALWAYS put the self into a state of mind that is hyper-aware.
Clarity is the key, not a state of delusion.
Relaxed precision, not inebriation.
Anything less is quite simply, a failure!
Everybody is aware of purpose based scents on some level. Perfumes and colognes are used by the masses for the common mating ritual.
Yet perfumery is another problematic area we must address. Often misused, rarely perfected, yet so very simple to learn. One must apply such odors to the body with subtly, to compliment the natural pheromones the self exudes.
Surround yourself with a cloud of odor and the effect will be "she's hiding something rancid." And the same applies to drowning in cologne, or worse... the limp sense of purchased dignity sought through the world of concentrated pheromones, extracted from whatever magic lady-killer creature the marketers want you to believe in. The scent of a fertile stag's urine still smells like, urine... amplified 100 times in the concentrated drops you dabbed behind your ears.
Is that what you want to achieve?
"He doesn't just smell like piss, it's SUPER piss baby!"
Aromancy. It is an art form of seductive subtly, and sensory control.
